Doll World Problems....

So as I mentioned on Monday, it took us 2.5 hours to get to the nearest Justice (and that was after a ride across town, to the Coaster, to get the Trolley, otherwise- a typical trip would be that plus another 1.5 hours).

I googled to see if there was one closer, and it looks like there is one north of here, another 50 minute bus ride and 20 minute walk, which isn’t that bad. The problem is getting there and back to get my kid from school.

Srsly guys, I was hoping to be out and about and finding all the new ones and buying enough so I can get them to you, too, but this is a major cramp in my doll huntin.

Thought I love it here, sometimes I really miss living in LA where everything was close and we had malls and Targets and a Kmart and 2 TRUs :C

edit: Not to mention the tickets for all of this were $20 for my kid and I. I basically can’t get out of this town in under 3 bus rides. This is now officially a rant about the poor public transport here. But I did truly want to be that provider of dolls. Sigh.

Two buses, a couple of inept salesgirls who took soooo long they almost made me miss the bus, a jog uphill (in terrible shape) to catch said bus, and two hours later I have found not only a decent mall nearby with a Justice and Claires, but also these bbs!!!

^_^

No Scaris, but I’ll deal with them later. These will be from Santa, I think. Here’s hoping I don’t see them while out with my kid! lol- she suspects when I don’t snatch up a doll right away >_>

It doesn't help that when i googled "Justice" it brought up umpteen law firms.

NOOO my Skelita's knees don't bend. DX

I think I’m alright with that but I know it’ll add some frustration later on when I use her in photography. Also, she’s got bad box hair and those curls up front are hard as a rock. Other than that, she’s a BEAUTE. I love the fact that the skirt layers over a dress that can stand on it’s own. And the mold is soooo delicate.

Also, Jinifire is amazing as well. The skin, and the mold, and those LITTLE LIPS. I love the little lips so much.

Eeyeah, I LOVE HER. She might be my new favorite of the dolls. I’m not sure. I do love Toralei a shitton, but Jin’s definitely bumped Abbey into the 3rd spot.

Um, best doll ever.

Also, does she have a larger bust? It looks comparable to Operettas’.

My complete collection so far, minus the I <3 Fashion Abbey from amazon that STILL HASN’T COME YET WHY THE FUDGE DID I PAY $6 FOR SHIPPING RIPPOFF.

I already unboxed SS Draculaura, I’ve been wanting her little bathing suit but couldn’t bring myself to shell out for it. Got her for free when I bought the Werecats and Wave 2 Frankie today. Next out of the boxes are going to be my I <3 Fashion Abbey and Basic Operetta. Mostly, I like the clothes. I wish they sold more fashion packs, I’m very excited for the new ones coming.

I found the Werecats and Wave 2 Frankie at a pop-up/seasonal shop of Toys R Us in a mall. My fiance used to work for TRU and he says that those shops are usually for old merch that they want to get rid of that has been up in a warehouse, so if you see a store like this in a mall or shopping center, check it out, you may find something good! Also the prices on the boxes are higher than what they really are. I got the werecats for about $38 and Frankie was $29 (I didn’t realize that or I might not have bought her, haha, I was just too excited to see an early Frankie.

My favorite is Snow Bite, I don’t know what it is about her but she’s just so perfect. Not sure if I want to unbox her or not.

The next things I want is ~maybe~ a Little Dead Riding Hood Clawdeen, Scaris Rochelle, and Skellita. I want the Draculaura and Abbey fashion packs and the Operetta Deluxe Fashion Pack.

This is why you need to study hard kids - so when you grow up and have a good job you can buy all the toys you want.

Amen!!

The other three. I really love both Rochelle and Clawdeen, but Frankie’s just okay. I Heart Fashion Frankie is just amazing to me and no other Frankies compare. Heh.

There will probably be more Scaris around after Thanksgiving.

archiemcphee:

A day devoted to monsters is a great excuse to feature one of our all-time favourite cartoon monsters: Gossamer, the big red hairy monster with a heart-shaped face, long claws, and tennis shoes. Gossamer was created by animator Chuck Jones and introduced in a 1946 Warner Bros. Merrie Melodies cartoon entitled Hair-Raising Hare

The scene you see here is from a 1952 Looney Tunes cartoon entitled Water, Water Every Hare. In order to distract Gossamer from pursuing him, Bugs Bunny thinks fast and pretends to be a beautician, giving the surprisingly patient Gossamer a pretty awesome makeover:

“My stars! Where did you ever get that awful hairdo? It doesn’t become you at all. Here, for goodness’ sake, let me fix it up. Look how stringy and messy it is. What a shame! Such an interesting monster, too. My stars, if an interesting monster can’t have an interesting hairdo, then I don’t know what things are coming to. In my business, you meet so many interesting people. Bobby pins, please. But the most interesting ones are the monsters. Oh, dear, that’ll never stay. We’ll just have to have a permanent.”

Watch it here. (We’ll be watching it too.)

My all time favorite monster!! I’m totally making an OC of him when I get home :3

Dude was looking through the basics on the end cap, and took EVERY SINGLE ONE.

It was mostly Venus and Robecca but… shit. He was talking to someone on his phone(taking orders? Lol) Like, maybe they were for a bunch of nieces, but it looked a hellavu lot like a scalper.

A bad one too, he totes missed the Howleen/Clawdeen pack 8(

Edit: I noticed on Craig’s list that someone had bought up all the Dance Class dolls down in chula vista. “They’re really hard to find!” They said. Yeah cause you a-holes bought em all up and are charging a fortune for them! Anyway, this guy made me think of them and so I hid the Howleen. -_-

I would have grabbed his cart - said ‘Excuse me - you can’t take all of these’ THAN called for a Manager and explain the situation.

Well, I typically want to avoid a physical confrontation (in spite of all evidence to the contrary). Plus, he had no cart, just grabbed an armfull (7?) And hustled out. Thing is he didn’t notice the more rare ones on the actual MH shelf, which leads me to believe he was a noob at scalping (and believe me- I’ve seen the pro ones training for chrissakes!). And its entirely possible they were just presents. It just seemed kind of random to grab a shelfs worth

Generally when I see this, I will grab up any rares, hide in another section of the store for a bit and then put them back after the waves of scalpers leave (at TRU at 10am, for example, there were two waves; the ones there at opening and the lazy ones that arrive at 1030 and buy up what’s left. I’ve had these guys FOLLOW ME around the store. Creepy as hell!). If I had money, I would just buy a couple of the new ones and return them in the afternoon. The employees (who are generally treated shitty by most of these scalping jackholes) were OK with this.

Since moving here, I’ve noticed a refreshing lack of scalpers, so I’ve been able to concentrate on our collection. This kind of threw me for a loop, but as there are plenty of Venus & Robeccas in the area, I let it be. -_-

(edit- for some reason my phone doesn’t do paragraph breaks? Sorry if these were hard to read :P)

china on the left indonesia on the right.

the reason why i dont like indonesia abbeys is this ^ their skin is a different color than china abbeys.. tell me im not the only person who can see this.. i also would not be surprised if it were a slightly different scuplt. indonesia abbeys seem to have a wider face.. but i may be crazy.

Looks that way to me…
