MY CAM WITCH IS COMPLETE :O YAY!
So when I got her, I knew, KNEW, she was going to be Elphaba from Wicked. I’m too huge of a fan for her to be anything else. And I knew I hated her hand…the OK sign looking one. I was like…why is she telling me it’s ok? And then someone told me she was actually making a “pinch” hand like when you are putting a pinch of ingredients into a cauldron! I was like, “OH! OHMYGAWD I’m so dumb!!!, but OH!” I still didn’t like it, but at least I understood it. So moving on…what to get her to wear….
They LIV wig was an wasy find and I had bought the vintage looking Barbie Elphaba from Walmart one day long before this because I’m a huge Wicked Witch fan. Sadly, I’m not a huge Barbie fan but I figured I’d suck it up because she’s at least vintage looking. In the end, she ended up a shelved dust collector until my CAM came along! But then the clothes were too big and the shoes didnt fit at all! So with a little black thread and a tiny tuck or two, VOILA!, an outfit made for a beautifully wicked MH doll! And the broom even fit between her OK fingers perfectly making her hand suddenly useful and perfect! But then….shoes. Tricky, tricky, darned shoes. I tried the black Bee Cam and they were ok, but in my story the Wicked Witch always wins. She deserves those darn shoes. How was she wicked? Someone came and murdered her sister (who may or may not have been a bad person- I mean we never see her and those munchkins don’t look like the honest kind) and stole her sister’s shoes right off the still-warm corpse! All she does is chase that thief down in an attempt to get her late sister’s stolen property back. Wouldn’t you do the same? And she got murdered for it herself! WTH? So yeah….enough ranting. In my story, Elphaba lives and keeps the shoes. So now where do I get ruby red slippers? Ebay? Nope. Etsy? Ooohh, there are some shoe makers, but the only ruby red slippers currently listed were from Aus. and had a hefty shipping price! I wrote to an American seller and they said they would make a pair. And make a pair they did! Except they listed them while I was away from the internet unfortunately for me and someone else won them :(
It’s ok though! My favorite seller of custom MH parts, Loren from Plastic-Curves.com heard about my deep sadness for my unfinished Elphaba and came to my rescue! She sent me a gift of the most lovely pair of ruby red slippers anyone could ask for! They are a perfect fit without stocking, but would be just big enough for stockings as well. They went on smoothly and without a bit of trouble and are literally the most gorgeous shade of glittered red, just like something out of a movie! They were made from the Bee CAM shoe sculpt so they are just what Elphie needed to be finished! I now have the perfect Witch CAM ever <3
Not only does she have the ability to make just about anything for MH in terms of custom body parts and accessories, but she’s got a pretty good head start. I’ve never been disappointed with an order from Loren and everything arrives to be greeted by me with much excitement! SO GO CHECK OUT HER STORE :D
