So my on/off boyfriend of mine were doing some research regarding the de Niles for my fanfiction I want to write, so we did some analyzing on the family’s ages, dynasty, deaths, resurrections, etc. We have tried to see how historically accurate it is, since Monster High seems to exist within our world, but we’re also testing the non-historical accuracy of it. However, this is what we have so far.

The formula we used to determine age was a simple one:
Take the current age and subtract the number of years the canon says Nefera and Cleo lived (5842 and 5845 years respectively)
Cleo:
2012 – 5842 = 3830 BC (Possible Year of Birth)
Nefera:
2012 – 5845 = 3827 BC (Possible Year of Birth)
That being given, we did some looking into the earliest recorded pharaoh in history (Menes) Wikipedia has this on the subject of dynasties (specifically the Early Dynastic Period) :
The Prehistory of Egypt spans the period of earliest human settlement to the beginning of the Early Dynastic Period of Egypt in ca. 3100 BC, starting with King Menes/Narmer.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prehistoric_Egypt
So, here, we cannot link Menes too much at the moment to the actual “mummy“ father figure portrayed in the show; seeing as the father mummy figure (Ramses de Nile) had previous pharaohs in his family. However, Egypt, before the union of Upper and Lower Egypt, was potentially ruled by separate rulers in their own kingdoms; could it be possible that maybe these rulers ruled over land in this time?
May the canon followers rain hellfire for these sayings, but again, I (Mana, aka boyfriend) haven’t watched the show, just doing a small investigation by proxy. Continuing…A big problem for us at the moment is that the canon says that they were sealed in a sarcophagus for 1000 years. However, if the math is correct, they would surface at 2830BC, nowhere near the time period the show is set at. Not only this, if we were to completely disregard history and make this closer to AD, the only way the sarcophagus would work is if they were sealed inside in 1012 AD, nowhere near the Egyptian Dynasties of Ancient Egypt.
Another inconsistency we find personally is the whole “gods” aspect. The fact that Cleo and Nefera were born in the years mentioned (3830 and 3827) means they were around during the Neolithic Era of the Egyptians; which meant that organized religion was not a given just yet. Thus, the gods that are mentioned in the story couldn’t have been known if there was no organized religion established just yet; and even if it had, it wouldn’t have been the famous “Ra, god of the sun” and “Anubis, god of death” we know and respect. The creations that were available have been illustrated in the timeline that follows.
Again, some of our info is taken from Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prehistoric_Egypt
Timeline
(All dates are approximate)
Late Paleolithic, from 40th millennium BC
Aterian tool-making
Semi-permanent dwellings in Wadi Halfa
Tools made from animal bones, hematite, and other stones
Neolithic, from 11th millennium BC
c. 10,500 BC: Wild grain harvesting along the Nile, grain-grinding culture creates world’s earliest stone sickle blades
c. 8000 BC: Migration of peoples to the Nile, developing a more centralized society and settled agricultural economy
c. 7500 BC: Importing animals from Asia to Sahara
c. 7000 BC: Agriculture—animal and cereal—in East Sahara
c. 7000 BC: in Nabta Playa deep year-round water wells dug, and large organized settlements designed in planned arrangements
c. 6000 BC: Rudimentary ships (rowed, single-sailed) depicted in Egyptian rock art
c. 5500 BC: Stone-roofed subterranean chambers and other subterranean complexes in Nabta Playa containing buried sacrificed cattle
c. 5000 BC: Archaeoastronomical stone megalith in Nabta Playa, world’s earliest known astronomy
c. 5000 BC: Badarian; furniture, tableware, models of rectangular houses, pots, dishes, cups, bowls, vases, figurines, combs
c. 4400 BC: finely-woven linen fragment
Inventing prevalent, from 4th millennium BCOne key thing we’d like to note as well is that at the date of birth, sarcophagi (At least, the very decorated Egyptian ones that are famously luxurious) hadn’t been pioneered yet. Because of this, how would have Cleo and Nefera have even obtained one?
Also, the earliest mummies had been made at around 2700 BC, according to this, so how would the mummy father even exist? Why would they be wrapped up in bandages anyway?

And that is what we have so far. Thoughts?
I thought I was the only one doing this kind of mind boggling digging into their history (After I started questioning Draculauras parentage and being 1600 years old- then I read her diary, lol). Kudos for doing the work. I guess its safe to say we have to
A. Suspend reality
B. Choose to believe that they live in an AU that’s similar to ours…
C. Just collect the pretty dollies and force ourselves to forget any of this ever happened *clutches her cleo* nice dollie… my preciousssss
