Nope. These shirts tbh, are a REALLY hamfisted attempt to make MH “edgy" for the hot topic audience
the thing about monster high is that its silly and punny and fabulous and dorky and REVELS in it. its cool just by virtue of being what it is, and these shirts are just all “look at how deep and brooding this franchise is these shirts will look great with your plaid skinny jeans and doctor who wallet"

I just can’t shake the feeling that these particular designs are a nakedly obvious attempt to make the franchise “darker" and subsequently "deeper" for the Hot Topic consumer.
Not to bring up the comparison again, but look at MLP. The MLP Merchandise at Hot Topic doesn’t try to hide what it’s for. It’s all still bright colors and ponies and “20% cooler."
These shirts don’t have any of that imo. How disappointing will it be for someone to want the “freaky fab" and “be a monster!" type of shirt and what they get isn’t anything like that?
I really like the Draculaura one and here’s why.
This shirt is a direct callback to the vintage Universal Monsters films, upon which Monster High is based. Those old movies were what got me into MH in the first place, and for me this shirt is a clever spin on those old posters. I’d like to have seen it done better, but it might’ve been too busy of a design for a t-shirt.
On the topic of the Frankie one, considering it’s a photo, I’d be wary of buying it. HT has a nasty habit of stealing artists’ work and slapping it on a t-shirt, and I won’t be surprised if the original image turns up soon with an inflammatory message to HT tacked on it.
When held up against a Universal Monster poster, than the Draculara one does make more sense. Still, not my cup of tea. But the pic links to the HT page if y’alls want to order. I will wait and see what else they come up with. Cause where else will I find a 3XL MH shirt?!?! lol.
